Francesca Sostar (b. 1997) is a photographer and filmmaker whose work explores the friction between external chaos and internal solace. With a background in film, they create images that feel like fragmented dreams— worlds where there is a tension between nostalgia, chaos, and identity.
Their photography delves into the complexities of a delayed experience of youth, questioning what it truly means to come of age. Francesca’s cinematic approach relies on a dream-like aesthetic to craft visuals that blur boundaries between reality and imagination. Their work invites viewers to linger in the duality of discomfort and peace, reflecting on what it means to create safety and authenticity in a world that often feels at odds with both.
They received their BA in Television, Radio and Film from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2019. Francesca currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
